I fly thru the trees with the greatest of ease...

Well hello! I have had a fantastic day. Possibly the best since I’ve been on board. We docked in Puntarenas, Costa Rica this morning and Rachel, Brianne and I met up with Brianne’s friend Mauro. First we went for a great breakfast of “pinto especial” which was rice, black beans, eggs, bacon and ham and a tortilla with a glass of fresh watermelon juice. It was SO GOOD. Then we drove through the country and stopped at a river to look for crocodiles, but we only found a cow and some iguanas. There was a really cool old wooden bridge so of course we had to take a few pictures. So we kept driving in the Costa Rican countryside which was just gorgeous, to a huge national forest were we went zip lining. It was so great! Even better and faster then the one we did in Puerto Vallarta. We took lots of pics (of course) and the scenery was amazing, in the middle of the mountains and the rainforest…so pretty. The best part, though, was the superman cable. They hook you up in this harness and you fly TWO THOUSAND FEET THOUGH THE AIR!!! WOW! It was so scary but so cool and I loved it. Finally we had a delicious lunch at the forest restaurant of rice, beans, ribs, pork, salad, fried plantains, mashed potatoes and rice pudding. Mauro just dropped us off back at the ship and I’m exhausted. Time for a little nap before work tonight. Hope you like the pictures!
Love,
Amy

Hi Ame,

Boy that Costa Rican jungle expedition you had sounds pretty cool. Can't wait to see more pics when you return.

Grandma had her surgery today. I'm still waiting to hear from Grandpa on how she did. It's been about 3 hrs. since she was scheduled to begin so I'm hoping he'll call soon.

Glad you're having lots of fun. Sounds like the food is great too. Where are you off to next?

Love you, Auntie J.

Hopefully everything went okay with gramma, please let me know as soon as you hear and if you talk to her tell her I love her!!!

Krissy, Melissa and Amanda...I miss you guys! Did you all get my email? Write back when you have time, I want to hear whats going on back in PACE-land! My life IS pretty exciting right now, but I do miss my friends and family. Actually I am getting sick so today I'm not loving being on the high seas and working 7 days a week. I'd like to call in sick and watch Oprah, but no can do. I have 2 hours off right now though, before I have to work again. Tonight is the "Black and White Ball" and I dont have an appropriate formal, so I'm going to raid my friend's closet to see if she has anything I can borrow.

Email soon!!!

Hi Ame,

I gave Grandma your message. She loves you, too. She was feeling pretty good the first day after surgery, but I guess they're taking her off the epidural now and she's not feeling so hot. She may go home tomorrow, but I'm not sure. I haven't called yet today.

Otherwise it's status quo here. We did a little clean up in our garden today. Jaimee's playing w/playdoh and Em's hanging on my shoulder reading along.

Dance is over but swim lessons are still going on. They are also practicing their music lessons and their pieces for the recital in August. Jaimee will be playing, "God Bless America" and Emilie will play, "Music Box Dancer". They are working hard on these.

Well, time for lunch. The natives are restless.

Love, Auntie J.

Oooh a visit from Matty B! Hooray! I am still sick but I think on the mend. I went to a waterpark in Acapulco yesterday and went down a tube slide that spits you into a huge bowl and then you spin around in it and fall thru a hole in the bottom about 5 feet into a pool. It was called the Tornado. FUN!

I have the afternoon off today so I'm going to take a nap. I had a 4 hour date with Kiefer Sutherland last night and didn't get enough sleep. I kept saying, Kiefer, I have to get up early tomorrow! But he wouldn't listen. So I ended up staying up way too late.

Love and love and love...

Hello,

That water ride you went on...we called that thing the "toilet bowl". Fun, huh? Hope you're feeling better soon.

Granny is back home. Just spoke to her about an hour ago. She's not feeling too hot but she'll probably be posting on your blog any day now if she can get back to the computer. She will have therapy at home every day for a while since she was released from the hospital so soon.

How did you like Huatulco? I went to a Club Med there years ago, but I don't think it's still there. As I remember the town was not much, but the Club Med village was nice.

That's the news flash for now...
Have a good time w/MB Linny - when can the fam meet him? (Guess you don't want to scare him away too soon.) Say Hi to Keifer, Ame.

Love you all,
Auntie J.

Kiefer says hi to the whole family. We are getting really close. We spent four more hours together today but now season one is over so we won't be seeing each other again till I can get my hands on season two...maybe when I get to Seattle...Sigh. I really like him. It could be serious.

Girls, good luck with swimming and recitals, swimming is very important. When I swim in the ocean I get nervous sometimes because I wish I was a stronger swimmer. Practice a lot so you won't get suck into the undertow!!!

Is Ronny O. home from NIU yet?? How did he like it? I bet he kissed a girl. Sorry AL but thats what 13 yr old boys do when they are on weekend trips with girls!! Haha. Just kidding I'm sure it was all PG-rated.

Granny I hear your home??? Pancreas is in working order i trust? Keep a close eye, pancreases can turn on you at a moments notice.

Who else reads this thing and doesn't comment? I'd like to make a rule that if you read this you have to at least comment once in a while. Tell me what's up in the world I left behind. Haha. I'm feeling dramatic. See you in 6 weeks!

Amy...Yes, I'm HOME! I was feeling great while I was told to press the button clipped to my hospital gown every 15 minutes. I could practically do cart wheels for the doctor. Then...they told me 'don't use it anymore' and within three hours I was in PAIN. Amazing what a little (or a lot) of Morphine will do. We're waiting for the visiting nurse and possibly the therapist today. TP will be here every day for a week and then 3x a week as long as necessary. Then to out patient rehab (next door to the Phoenix restaurant). It was great to see Linny & Jason but it was cut short cuz they came early to get me for rehab. You'll be home before you know it. Can't wait to hear what you think of Alaska. I can't imagine what it wouold feel like swinging through trees (like you're on Morphine?)
Gotta go, Luv Granny

Ame,

Well, we're expecting a huge march today and it's supposed to pass right by the building I work in next to the Chicago Board of Trade. Up to a half million people saying that they don't want us to enforce our immigration laws.

As for the hair survey: I'm partial to longer hair (just ask AJ and my girlies), so I'd recommend against a short cut. However, I'm sure you'd look cute as a bug anyway. It all boils down to it being your decision.

I am continuing to ride my bike about twice a week to work (26 miles round trip). Most of the way is marked with a bike lane, so it's not as dangerous as one might expect. I should be getting some shock-wave (ultra-sound) treatment for my heal so I can start running again fairly soon (hopefully). I've really missed running and am anxious to get started again.

I have to go to traffic school tonight for making an illegal U-turn (sign was invisible at 10:00pm and 150 feet behind me) after picking up a friend who didn't want to walk home in 10-degree weather. The cop on Manheim and North had nothing better to do, I guess.

Hope you continue to enjoy "work". Look forward to seeing you when you return!

P.S. Hey everyone!

Hi Ame,

Well, I'm partial to shorter hair. (Just keep it longer to keep U.R. happy! Ha!) Anyhow, I think it would look good short. Only drawbacks are less flexibility with styling options and it needs more frequent (read more costly) trimming to look good.

I'm getting my hair highlighted and cut today. Not going too short, not yet at least. The girl who is cutting it thinks I should keep it a little longer for now and see how the highlighting adds body. Well, hope it adds a lot...otherwise it's getting cut shorter!

Still cool and gloomy here - had a wet weekend. Can't wait for summer!

Love you, Auntie J.
